1975 – First “Laptops” Arrive

Believe it or not, this was once considered a portable personal computer – the IBM 5100.

With a heady 16 kilobytes of memory and weighing a mere 25kg, the was the 5100 was the first machine of its kind – a fully self contained computer including a monitor, keyboard and storage.

It was also a bargain ranging from US$9,000 to US$20,000.
