IBM Augments Reality in New York

Using Augmented Reality service TagWhat, IBMers from the Madison Avenue office in New York have started scattering content around their local park.  Using an iPhone or Android-based smartphone you can explore the world of Smarter Planet and the Internet of Things as you walk around.

On one street corner you’ll find an app that helps you decide where best to try and catch a cab, Cabsense and in the centre of Madison Square Park you’ll find the IBM video the Internet of Things (posted below).

Augemented Reality is a real-time, interactive and 3D way of delivering content based on your location and surroundings and could have all sorts of uses like virtual walking tours, branding a location when viewed through a device, adaptive maps (see this Wimbledon app), 3D trading cards and music videos.
